In this thread I will be posting all Non-Player Characters (NPCs). You are free to use any of these characters in your posts, speak for them, dictate their actions, etc. Each character will come with a some notes regarding their personality and behavior, so try to keep their actions in line with them.
Operations Officer Bradford - Command staff. Bradford is the guy in charge of XCOM operations, on the nitty gritty level. While the Commander makes overall decisions for the project, Bradford is the one that figures out how to make those decisions actually happen. Bradford's personality should be in-line with how it's portrayed in game, unless we decide to change it. He should be professional and focused on the mission.
Chief Scientist Vahlen - Head of Research and Development. Vahlen is incredibly focused on her work. She is fascinated by the implications of alien technology and science, and is ruthless in her pursuit of elevating humanity to that level. This does, however, leave her appearing a bit cold in human interaction, directing XCOM personnel to preserve alien technology to the detriment of all else, including personal safety.
Chief Engineer Shen - Head of Engineering. Shen is an excellent multi-discipline engineer, with good management skills and a knack for squeezing maximum effort from his people. Shen's personality should be in line with his in-game depiction, unless we decided to change it.
Sergeant William Farell - Base Security. Age 35. Sergeant Farell is a stickler for discipline. He has several years experience as a US Army Military Policeman, serving nearly his entire time in Germany before being seconded to the XCOM Project. He takes almost sadistic glee in rounding up wayward soldiers (and now XCOM troopers) for infractions of rules and hauling them before command authority to be disciplined. Sergeant Farell's favorite off-duty hobby is skydiving, and he is particularly grumpy now that he is confined to base along with all other staff.
Officer Astrid Durand - Base Security. Age 23. Officer Durand is the "good cop" of XCOM base security. She's friendly, she knows all the inside jokes, and she'll try to keep you out of trouble, if she can. Durand was originally a Canadian police officer, assigned to a community relations post in Vancouver. She came to XCOM almost completely by accident. A high ranking Council aide was present when a crazed man attacked a restaurant, seeking revenge on his employer. Astrid was the initial responder to the assault, and managed to talk the man down into surrendering, simply by being friendly and understanding. The aide, impressed by her poise and demeanor, recommended that she be considered for a posting at XCOM, given that many of the soldiers would be particularly volatile, and a calm, friendly face would help keep the peace in the base.
Fahmida Hesbani - Bartender. Age 31. Fahmida is a bit of an anomaly. She's a Pakistani Muslim. While not particularly devout (she does not wear the traditional headgarb), she still never drinks any alcohol, yet she serves it as her livelihood. She virtually never speaks, either, leading to a variety of rumors as to either why she will not, or can not. Fahmida is technically in charge of the bar and supervises the other two bartenders, but in reality they work 3 different shifts and she tends not to boss them around.
Janice Hale - Bartender. Age 24. A fairly typical American girl hailing from North Carolina, US. She's friendly, listens to everyone's problems, mixes drinks strong, and always gets really good tips. She's not above flirting to make sure those tips are good, either! On the other hand, she also knows that at least the appearance of availability is important, too, so she never gets too serious about it.
Mike Pennet - Bartender. Age 28. Mike is an English publican, hailing from a family of bar owners going back several centuries. He's snotty about his beer, and hates serving it cold, like all the Americans seem to like. Still, he does always make sure that the bar has a good variety of beer and liquor in stock, and almost always the good stuff.
Captain Adam Baker - Logistics. Age 67. Captain Baker was once a promising soldier and commander of men, but he was also a stickler for protocol and paperwork, and he made the mistake of letting his superiors know that he was proficient at filing and editing military documentation. That was his first mistake. His second mistake was accepting a role as commanding logistics for his local unit. 43 years later, he's still in Logistics, though now for the newly thrown together XCOM organisation. Baker rarely comes out of his office, and his prescence is usually felt through strongly worded emails and through the Gunnery Sergeants who maintain the loading, armoury, and transit crews. His biggest gripe is with misuse, or simply not using appropriate requisition forms, or keeping track of misplaced and deployed stock.
Sergeant Gavin "Gastro" Cooke - Mess chef. Age 45. Sergeant Cooke is suitably enough, the head of the catering staff, and usually oversee's the rest of the cooks in the preparation of foods for the mess hall. He rarely says much, and even when he does it's muffled by his amazing mustache, but for the most part he prefers to let his presence be felt and not heard. The nickname 'Gastro' or 'Gastro Gavin' is one he acquired a few years ago. He claims the outbreak and his cooking were completely coincidental, and resents the moniker the troops bestowed upon him.
Major James Wu - Adjutant. Age 37. Major Wu is the primary aide to the XCOM Commander. While the commander believes in a hands-off approach, delegating the actual details of running the organization to his relevant departmental heads, there are times when he becomes personally interested in a matter. In those cases, Major Wu will appear as the commander's instrument of influence. He is generally polite, but knows he speaks with ultimate authority backing him and he will exercise that power if necessary. Major NPC. Should rarely appear. If speaking more than one or two sentences to someone, please consult with me on his lines.
Lieutenant Garth Schmitz - Armorer. Garth is a friendly fellow, but he is really stern about inventory. He knows that if something gets out of hand with the weaponry he is the one responsible, so he diligently checks up on the weapons. Since the incident with the wrong magazines, he has been especially stern on the armory custodian(s?) to keep things right. It is also not wise to get on the bad side of Garth, as he has his ways of revenge.
